hacklberg trail and reservoir
Most popular mountainbike singletrack in the Alps
There are plenty of trails in Saalbach Hinterglemm, but mountainbike enthusiasts should definitely not miss out on a visit to the Hacklberg Trail.
The ride starts at the hotel and leads along the promenade to Saalbach as far as the Schattbergbahn cable car, which transports riders and their bikes to the eastern summit. From there it is a further 130 vertical metres to the western summit. This hard work is, however, more than worth it thanks to the stunning panoramic views at the top. Then it is time for the descent! 1000 vertical metres and over 10 kilometres of fabulous trails winding their way down along banked corners, small jumps and heart-pumping rollers. The Hacklberg Trail ends where it meets the Buchegg Trail. Around 200 metres west from the end of the Buchegg Trail lies the Speichersee Gerstreit, a large resevoir perfect for cooling off on hot summer days. The trail then continues from the Gerstreitalm hut into the valley as far as Hinterglemm and all the way back to our hotel.
Tip! Foodies should pay a visit to the Hacklbergalm hut. Don't forget to try the heavenly homemade sweet treats!
