e-Bike tour Hochalmtrail and uphill ride to forsthofalm
E-bike tour to Hochalmtrail and technically challenging Uphill route to Forsthofalm

Hochalmtrail is an easy downhill trail that is also suitable for beginners. The easiest way to get to the start is via Reiterkogelbahn. From the summit station take the forest trail to Rosswaldhütte. Another forest road continues from there over 500 metres in altitude up to Reichkendlkopf. After you have arrived there a high route leads directly to the start of Hochalm trail. The panorama with a view reaching from Großglockner to Wilder Kaiser is sensational, and the closer surroundings are not less beautiful. It is a miracle why this trail is not better known (for its panorama alone).
The first part of the trail – the easiest bit – also offers best views of the mountains at the head of the valley. Further ahead on the trail the slope gets a bit steeper and you have to be prepared for unconsolidated ground. Yet the degree of difficulty remains manageable. The trail leads over two kilometres and ends on a remote, slightly overgrown forest trail that is actually fun. It is crucial that you don’t overlook the turning to Forsthofalm: at the second strong left turn a small path leads off to the right (attention: there is also a path that leads off from the first strong left turn, but it ends after several metres). This is the beginning of the challenging drive to Forsthofalm. Partly even, partly short steep slopes and very narrow bends. In order to manage the trail without having to alight a good linehaul as well as technical skills are required. At the end of the trail you can reward yourself with a cool drink. From here the forest trail leads back to the valley.
Duration: The tour takes about 2,5 hours (length of the trip from Rosswaldhütte).
Start: Reiterkogelbahn
